Exploring the Journey of Coffee Beans

Updated: Nov 22, 2025

Follow the incredible journey of a coffee bean — from lush farms to your steaming cup. Learn how origin, roasting, and brewing transform every sip’s flavor.

From Farm to Cup: A Global Adventure

Every cup of coffee is the culmination of an incredible global journey. It begins with a tiny seed planted in rich soil and ends with a precise brewing method in your kitchen. Understanding this journey—from the tropical farm to the complex roast—is key to appreciating the depth, flavour, and quality of your daily brew.

Processing & Milling

After harvesting, the method used to remove the fruit pulp and dry the bean is crucial for developing the inherent sweetness and acidity of the coffee.

  • Washed Method (Wet): The pulp is removed before drying. This results in cleaner, brighter, and more acidic flavours.

  • Natural Method (Dry): The whole cherry is dried in the sun. This allows the fruit's sugars to infuse the bean, creating heavy-bodied, fruity, and wine-like flavours.

  • Milling: Once dried, the parchment skin is removed (hulling), and the beans are sorted by size and density, preparing them for international export as "green coffee."
